Missions: Mobile Loaves & Fishes
We are very excited to introduce you to this ministry at Lake Hills Church, where we will have a daily opportunity to be the hands of Christ by providing food, clothing and dignity to our brothers and sisters in need.
How do I start?

Make-Ready Team
The team who comes into the LHC kitchen to prepare 100 sandwiches (both peanut butter and meat sandwiches), gathers the fruit, chips, drinks, desserts, clothes/shoes, and loads up the truck. It is an easy and fun opportunity for the entire family. Before the truck can go out, somebody has to make sandwiches and get it ready. Commitment: One time or regular once-a-month
Truck Team
This is a team of up to six who delivers the food and clothing to the homeless and working poor of Austin. The truck travels to locations that are predetermined by the team captain. Kids are welcome (as long as a parent/guardian is present). It is a safe and powerful way to serve. Commitment: One time or regular once a month
Bread/Treats/Food Pick-up Ministry
We need individual volunteers who are willing to pick up donated bread and Starbucks’ treats at various times during the week. This is a flexible way to serve without having to commit to a larger block of time. Commitment: Flexible
Clothing Ministry
Handing out clothes is a big part of what we’ll be doing. But we’ll need volunteers to continually be sorting through them, before placing them on the truck. Commitment: Flexible
Acceptable items for donation:
- Sunglasses
- Hats or Visors
- Jackets- lightweight
- Gently used tennis shoes, sandals, hiking shoes or boots
- Casual Shirts- short or long sleeved
- Casual Pants or Jeans
- Shorts
*All items need to be very gently used (no stains) and freshly laundered.
Egg Ministry
Help us keep a steady supply of hard boiled eggs in inventory for each truck run. You can do this by purchasing eggs once a month (or more), boiling them at home, and bringing them back to the kitchen. The egg is the second most popular item on the streets (behind new socks). This is a great family activity. Commitment: Once-a-month (or more, if desired)
Truck Service/Maintenance Ministry
The truck needs regular servicing and preventative maintenance to keep it on the road and running strong. The truck also needs to be washed inside and out on a regular basis to keep it clean. Commitment: As needed/Flexible
Give
Every time the truck goes out, it is loaded down with $200 dollars worth of food. Along with volunteering your time, we would love to have your help in sponsoring a truck run or two (outside of your regular tithe to LHC). Please pray about supporting this effort financially.
