Mom-to-Mom

Our mission is to educate, encourage, and equip women for the most important job in the entire world, parenting. Through practical, Biblically-based teaching on parenting and through supportive interaction in small groups led by experienced mothers, (called “Titus 2” women after the Titus 2:4 model in the Bible). We wish to foster growth not only in our parenting skills but also in our wholeness as women intellectually, relationally, and spiritually.

Who We Are

We are women of diverse backgrounds from many different communities all over Austin who have children of all ages. Though at various stages of parenting, we share a common desire to grow as women and mothers.

The 2009-2010 Curriculum

The curriculum, Heart Talk on What Really Matters, will help us all come to know ourselves, our husbands, and our children better so that while we are growing our children, God can be growing us. The year is organized around four main themes:

My Identity: "Now That I'm a Mom...Who Am I Supposed To be?"
My Marriage: "Can I Be a Mom and Wife, Too?"
Parenting Basics for Daily Realities: "Help I'm Overwhelmed! What Matters Most?"
My True Power Source: "This Job Seems Bigger Than I Am...What Makes it Possible?"

What does a Morning Session Look Like?

First, we gather for a large-group lecture on a topic pertinent to our lives as moms. Linda Anderson, the founder of Mom to Mom, gives sixteen "core curriculum” video lectures. The mother of three married adult children and grandmother, too; Linda has a background as an educator and reading specialist. She’s been teaching parenting groups and Bible studies for almost two decades and integrates much of her own life and reading into her Biblically-based teaching.

To supplement the core video lectures, we regularly welcome guest speakers, professionals, members of the community, and church staff who address topics related to parenting and family life.

The morning’s lecture is followed by a coffee break, after which we gather in small groups led by an experienced mother, to discuss the topic of the morning and apply it to our own families. The small groups provide a safe place to share the joys and trials of motherhood and to explore the promises and purposes God gives us as parents.
