Your Chance to Help Those in Need.
In the event of a major disaster in Austin, LHC will want to help. We can either wait for this to happen or we can get prepared NOW and be ready to go when we are needed.
In this spirit, Lake Hills Church is partnering with the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) to help prepare our community in the event of a disaster. ADRN’s vision is to serve Christ by establishing a network that will meet the emotional, physical, and
spiritual needs of those affected by disaster. This vision will be accomplished by
building a communication infrastructure in Greater Austin that will enable and
empower the body of Christ to organize, mobilize, connect, and respond quickly
in the event of a disaster, great or small.
Both men and women volunteers are needed. To be part of this response to a disaster, you will need, at minimum, a basic 2 ½ hour training class provided by the Central Texas Red Cross. This will allow you access to the shelters to offer support to those in need. Training will take place throughout Austin. For a list of upcoming trainings, please visit www.adrntx.org. Here on the right side of the main page, you will see a list of trainings. The training you are looking for is the 2.5 hr Shelter Volunteer Training.
We are also currently seeking volunteers for the positions of Shelter Managers.
This position requires additional training with the Red Cross. For information on this job description and these training dates, please visit the ADRN web site at www.adrntx.org.
The need is great. Our goal is to have over 200 men and women from LHC trained and ready to act in the case of a disaster.
