Why? A Study of Job

NEW MESSAGE SERIES: WHY? A STUDY OF JOB
It’s the biggest question anyone ever asks: Why? Why are we here? Why does God allow pain and suffering in our lives? From the philosophical to the deeply personal, how we answer this question determines so much of our lives.

The book of Job tackles the Big Question through the very personal experience of Job’s loss, pain, and suffering. For believers and skeptics alike, it offers an unflinching look at suffering without resorting to shallow answers. It transcends simplistic answers and points to a God who offers hope, purpose, and Himself in the midst of our trials.

FAITH BEGINS HERE: JOHN’S STORY OF JESUS

In this six-session study, we will discover that John didn't write his Gospel just to tell us about a profound teacher or a powerful miracle worker. Rather, his purpose was to tell us about the very Son of God who came to this earth so that we "may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). John challenges us to trust in Christ and to demonstrate our faith in him through the way we live and love others.

Communion

As part of the morning services at 9:15 or 11:00 on September 8, we will take a moment to remember the sacrifice of Jesus - His broken body and shed blood - by participating in communion. Everyone is welcome at the services, and those who have entered into a relationship with Jesus are invited to join in communion. We look forward to this time of reflection and remembrance as we follow Jesus’ words to “do this in remembrance of Him” (Luke 22:19).

STUDY OF 1 SAMUEL
Join a Bible study group this Fall and get ready to dive into 1 Samuel!

If you enjoy reading adventure stories with intrigue, battles, and larger-than-life heroes overcoming impossible odds to conquer the "bad guys," you will love 1 Samuel. Its characters include a giant, a witch, a demon-possessed king, an outlaw band that rivals Robin Hood's, and a shepherd boy who becomes a fugitive and later becomes a king. But 1 Samuel is not a fable or a script for a sci-fi movie. It’s an accurate historical record of events that occurred about a thousand years before Jesus, in the land of Israel, and of the people who participated in those events. In addition, 1 Samuel transitions us to a whole new "chapter" in God’s redemptive plan for humanity. God’s people become a "kingdom"—a kingdom that will rise and fall, only to rise again permanently.

Teen Talk with Dr. Chinwé Williams & Will Hutcherson

Helping Teens and Young Adults Break Free From the Anxiety Spiral

This workshop is for parents, educators, coaches, and leaders of preteens & teens.

Anxiety is a normal human response to stressful circumstances. But sometimes anxiety takes more control over us than we would like, and we find ourselves stuck in a cycle of fear and anxious thoughts. That cycle (sometimes called the spiral of anxiety) can leave us feeling overwhelmed, helpless, and exhausted.

Teenagers and young adults already have a lot on their minds, with the pressures of keeping up grades, navigating their future, and keeping their social life intact. Anxiety can make life even more difficult.

In this workshop, Will Hutcherson and Dr. Chinwé Williams will help parents discover the lies that can keep teens spiraling in anxiety. Then they'll share the truths to replace those lies, along with practical strategies to help teens break free from the cycle. Will and Dr. Chinwé seamlessly combine both faith and psychology to provide parents tools to help their teens stop believing the lies of anxiety and to thrive instead of just surviving life.

For more information or if you’d like to attend this workshop on August 25 at 5:00, please SIGN UP HERE.
