SERVING GOODNESS
What is Mobile Loaves and Fishes?
Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF) is a food truck ministry dedicated to serving the under-resourced in our city. Every day of the year, our trucks provide meals, clothing, and hygiene items to those in need, bringing sustenance, dignity, and compassion to our community. MLF serves lower-income housing units as well as those experiencing homelessness.
Our Partnership with Mobile Loaves and Fishes
Lake Hills Church is proud to be one of eight churches in Austin that partners with MLF. With a commissary on our campus and two of the twelve MLF trucks in the city, we have been actively serving the community through this partnership since 2007.
Thanks to our incredible volunteers, we provide approximately 30,000 meals to those in need each year.

How You Can Serve
We have the opportunity to send out two trucks every evening, along with additional lunch shifts on Saturdays and Sundays. Each shift lasts about two hours and is a meaningful way to serve our city.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
Make Ready Team:
Prepares meals by making 50 PB&J and 50 meat & cheese sandwiches, and loads the truck with chips, fruit, bottled water, clothing and hygiene items.
Truck Team:
Drives the preloaded truck to pre-selected locations, especially lower-income housing units, distributing meals while fostering dignity and connection with those we serve.
Clothing Team:
Sorts, folds, and organizes clothing donations, ensuring trucks are stocked with essential items.
Volunteer Requirements:
General Volunteers: Must be 18 years or older to sign up on the MLF Calendar. But you are welcome to serve with your children or teens.
Truck Drivers: Must be 25 years or older and provide a valid Texas driving record (we will send you instructions—it only takes about 7 minutes!).

BUILDING YOUR TEAM
When you sign up for a shift, you become the team lead for that day. You are responsible for assembling your team (we recommend at least two adults). This is a great opportunity to invite family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers to make a tangible impact together!
TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
We offer both in-person and virtual training to help you get started:
In-Person Training
Join a seasoned Truck Team lead to experience firsthand the impact of MLF.
Truck Team Training: 2nd & 4th Tuesday, 2nd & 4th Wednesday
Complete Training (Make Ready & Truck Team): 2nd Thursday
Virtual Training:
We provide training videos for both kitchen prep and truck service:
Additional Support:
We will send you a reminder text the week you’re signed up to serve. You will also find a step-by-step checklist in the MLF Kitchen.
Note: In-person training is recommended but not required to begin serving.

Next Steps:
We look forward to having you on our team. Thank you for making a difference!
