  • The Bible

The Bible is the written word of God. God is the source of the Biblical text and acted through the Holy Spirit with the Biblical writers (both Old and New Testament) to communicate the unique and irreplaceable witness to the reconciling activity of God in the world, ultimately in and through Jesus Christ. Scripture is authoritative because the Holy Spirit works through it to enable us to identify and bear witness to Jesus, relate us to God, and transform our lives.

    Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16;1:13| 2 Peter 1:20-21 | Psalm 119:105,160;12:6 | Proverbs 30:5

  • The Church

We are a community of believers, a family of faith and the Body of Christ, stronger together. We gather together to praise and proclaim the word of God. We are united in Christ and each member serves an integral role through the bringing of individual and unique gifts of the Spirit. We believe in the transformative power of the local church, and shared faith of the universal Christian community. The Church is a distinct form of community for the world characterized by mutuality, interdependence, service, forgiveness, justice and family. Though imperfect, the Church is the beginning of God’s new creation in the world, a light for those in the darkness. As the church, we relentlessly and joyously join God in the work of renewing all things (uplifting the poor, setting captives free).

    Scripture: Genesis 1:27 | Psalm 8:3-6 | Isaiah 53:6; 59:1-2 | Romans 3:23

  • Salvation

Salvation is God’s work in bringing humans into right relationship with God and with one another through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Salvation is God’s gracious initiative, but also requires a human response. We are saved from the consequences of our sin and given abundant and eternal life, which begins the moment we believe and confess Jesus as Lord.

    Scripture: Romans 5:1; 6:23 | Ephesians 2:8-9 | John 14:6; 1:12 | Titus 3:5 | Galatians 3:26

  • Baptism

Baptism through immersion is a symbolic representation of an internal decision of faith for those who commit their lives to Jesus Christ. In baptism, we follow Jesus’ example, who was baptized, and act in obedience to Jesus’ command to be baptized. The New Testament describes the meaning of baptism through the rich symbolic images of dying and rising with Christ into resurrected life, cleansing of sins, being united with Christ and with the body of believers. Baptism marks the beginning of the journey of faith and discipleship that lasts throughout one’s life.

    Scripture: Colossians 2:12 | Matthew 3:16 | Mark 1:9

Our Pastor

Mac & Julie Richard

Pastor Mac and Julie Richard founded Lake Hills Church in 1997, with the aspiration to redefine church for the city of Austin and beyond. Mac and Julie believe deeply in the unique power that the local church has to change lives and unite people. They are committed to living out and sharing the vision of LHC: to grow the community of Christ one life at a time.

Serving as LHC’s Lead Pastor, Mac is a passionate communicator, creative thinker, and highly practical teacher. Recognizing the opportunity that the church has to develop Christ-centered leaders in the home, community, and marketplace, Mac founded SPUR Leadership in 2009. Since then, the organization has impacted thousands of leaders from all corners of the country through conferences, professional development luncheons, and networking events.

Julie is an energetic speaker who uses humor and joy to connect with audiences at LHC and around the country. She draws from her experiences in special education, early-childhood education, and student ministry to explain the everyday relevance of the Bible in marriage, parenting, and life. In 2014, Julie founded Fearless Mom, which provides practical tools and teaching to help every mom enjoy raising their kids in a Christ-centered home.

Mac and Julie have been married for over 30 years and they parent five adult children, including bonus kids, two son-in-laws, and one daughter-in-law: Emily, Joe, Sylvie, Allyson, Will, Jordan, and Abby...it’s definitely not boring!
